Study in Canada Scholarship Program and Memorial University Announcement

Applications for the Study in Canada Scholarships (SICS) program, supported by the Government of Canada and funded by Global Affairs Canada, are now open for the 2025-2026 academic year. This scholarship provides opportunities for students from various countries, including Turkey, to participate in short-term study or research exchange programs in Canada.

Why This Program?

The scholarship program aims to strengthen Canada's international connections, deepen cultural ties, and enhance academic collaborations between countries. Memorial University has extensive experience in hosting scholars and offers valuable opportunities to students.

Who Can Apply?

Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:

  • Turkish citizenship.
  • Full-time enrollment at a higher education institution.
  • Payment of tuition fees to their home institution during the application and scholarship period.

Who Cannot Apply?

  • Individuals with Canadian citizenship or permanent residency applications.
  • Participants in other scholarship programs funded by the Government of Canada.
  • Those currently enrolled in a diploma or certificate program in Canada.

Scholarship Process and Key Dates:

  1. Nomination by Your University: Your university initiates the application process by nominating candidates. Memorial University’s nomination and application deadline: March 7, 2025.
  2. Application Submission: Memorial University applies for the scholarship on behalf of the student.
  3. Final Deadline: Applications must be submitted by March 18, 2025, at 11:59 PM (EDT).
  4. Scholarship Notification: Successful applicants will be notified by Memorial University.
  5. Scholarship Disbursement: Scholarship funds will be provided upon arrival in Canada. (Initial expenses like airfare and visa must be covered by the student.)

Required Documents:

To be considered, you must prepare and submit the following documents:

  • Proof of Citizenship: Passport ID page or national ID card (passport required if selected).
  • Privacy Notice Statement: Completed via the online template.
  • Statement of Intent: A letter explaining your motivation for participating in the exchange program.
  • Full-Time Enrollment Confirmation: Issued by ÇOMÜ, confirming full-time student status and continuation of studies post-exchange.
  • Letter of Support: Written by a professor, instructor, or international office representative at ÇOMÜ.
  • Exchange Agreement (MOU): A copy of the agreement signed between ÇOMÜ and Memorial University.
  • (For Research Students) Invitation letter from a supervisor in Canada.
  • (For Course-Based Exchanges) Proof of English Language Proficiency: Memorial University may require proof of English proficiency during the application process.
