Cooperation Talks Between ÇOMÜ and Western Ukraine National University Begin
Talks have commenced for a planned cooperation between Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) and the Western Ukraine National University. Ukrainian Istanbul Consul Oleksandr Gaman, Ternopil Governor Volodymyr Trush, and representative Yaryna Zhukorska visited ÇOMÜ to discuss the collaboration.
The meeting took place in the ÇOMÜ Rectorate Senate Hall and was attended by Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Bünyamin Bacak, General Secretary Assoc. Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu, Erasmus Institutional Coordinator Lec.Dr. Ali Emrah Tokatlıoğlu, and staff member Hasan Hakan Başaran.
Governor Volodymyr Trush emphasized Ternopil’s role as a youth center and highlighted the Western Ukraine National University’s rapid development. “We want to establish strong collaborations with ÇOMÜ,” he stated.
Prof. Dr. Bünyamin Bacak provided insights about ÇOMÜ, expressing a desire to increase the number of Ukrainian students enrolled.
Yaryna Zhukorska shared information about the educational opportunities in Ternopil and noted that the Turkish Language and Literature Department will start offering courses in the 2021-2022 academic year. She expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with ÇOMÜ.
Consul Oleksandr Gaman remarked that discussions regarding this cooperation began in 2019, but plans were delayed due to the pandemic. “This meeting marks an important step in strengthening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Turkey,” he stated.
The meeting concluded with the viewing of promotional films about the universities and the exchange of gifts.
